Laufen mit Sabrina Mockenhaupt: Tipps, Motivation & die richtige Laufbrille

Running is easy—and that’s exactly what makes it so special. Put on your shoes, go outside, and start running. Nevertheless, many runners know the typical challenges: too much ambition at the beginning, the wrong pace, too few breaks, or equipment that doesn’t fit properly.

Sabrina Mockenhaupt knows what really matters when it comes to running. She is one of Germany’s best-known long-distance runners and has been shaping the sport for many years. In an exclusive interview with gloryfy, she talks about motivation, common mistakes when starting to run, genuine running moments—and why good running glasses are more than just sun protection.

Sabrina Mockenhaupt: Running starts with joy

For Sabrina Mockenhaupt, running is not just about performance—it’s a feeling. It’s not always about pace, distance, or personal bests. Sometimes the best run is the one where you forget everything around you:

“When I completely forget that I’m running. When I get lost in my thoughts, simply live in the moment, and enjoy the nature around me. This lightness, this switching off from everyday life—that’s what makes runs the most beautiful and valuable for me, completely independent of time or pace.” - Sabrina Mockenhaupt

The most common running mistakes and how to avoid them

Many people start highly motivated—and that can quickly become too much. Sabrina sees the typical mistakes very clearly:

“Too fast, too much, too impatient—many people start straight away with too high a pace or too many kilometers. This often leads to frustration or injuries. Recovery is also frequently underestimated.”

When starting to run, you don’t immediately need big goals or perfect training plans. Much more important is a start that suits your own body.

Mocki’s tips: Start slowly, take the pace down, and increase the volume step by step. From the beginning, make sure to warm up properly before running and regularly include complementary training—for example, cycling, swimming, CrossFit, or yoga. It’s also ideal to include stability or mobility sessions in your week from the start, and skip a running session now and then instead. And most importantly: listen to your body and schedule in breaks.”

If a half marathon or marathon is the big goal, Sabrina recommends a structured build-up—ideally with a plan or in a group.

“Start easy and set yourself small goals—first run regularly, then increase gradually step by step. Give your body time and listen to it; breaks are part of the process. For a marathon, you should plan at least 4–6 months of preparation and ideally have 1–2 years of running experience. Bones, tendons, muscles, and ligaments need time to gradually adapt to the sustained strain.

And most importantly: don’t compare yourself with others—everyone has their own pace. Enjoy the journey, not just the destination.” - Sabrina Mockenhaupt

Why good running glasses are essential

Running glasses protect against more than just the sun. They provide clear vision, protect the eyes from wind, dust, and insects, and help you run in a more relaxed way.

Mocki explains why: “Alongside classic sun protection, good running sunglasses above all help you run in a relaxed way. When you don’t constantly have to squint, your forehead also stays relaxed—and this relaxation often extends to your neck and shoulders and throughout your body.”

You quickly notice whether sports glasses really work, especially during longer runs, fast sessions, or changing light conditions.

Must-haves for good running glasses

Secure fit

Running glasses must not slip or pinch. Sabrina Mockenhaupt sums it up perfectly: “A stable, non-slip fit is important—the glasses should not slip or bounce, even when you sweat.”

Thanks to adjustable temples, the running glasses from gloryfy can be individually adjusted in seconds and therefore sit particularly securely.

Lightweight material and comfort

Good running glasses should be barely noticeable. Lightweight materials and a well-fitting shape ensure that the glasses don’t distract you—whether during an easy long run or a competition.

Protection

When running, the eyes are exposed to wind, UV radiation, dust, and insects. gloryfy’s unbreakable running glasses combine 100% UV protection with unbreakable frames and lenses made from NBFX™—a real advantage for sport, training, and everyday life. Because the frames and lenses do not shatter, the risk of eye injuries is significantly reduced.

Conclusion: Running can start easily

Running doesn’t have to start perfectly. It doesn’t have to be fast, far, or impressive right away. What matters is getting started, staying consistent, and finding your own rhythm.

Sabrina Mockenhaupt shows that big goals are allowed—but the journey there requires patience, joy, and a good understanding of your own body.

The unbreakable running glasses from gloryfy impress with clear vision, a secure fit, and unbreakable protection—absolute must-haves for training, competition, and everyday life.
